Genepool formed in 1999 in Western Scotland, with band members spread across Ayrshire and Glasgow. Originally mixing thrash and hardcore influences, they gradually incorporated more of a death metal sound. The band recorded 4 demo EPs and toured across Scotland and England in the early-mid 2000s.
